music video analysis

The middle - Jimmy eat world

https://youtu.be/oKsxPW6i3pM

The music video opens with a women coming out of a car with a long tracking shot while the music gradually increases. The main premise of the video is a house party where everyone is only wearing underwear. We follow a boy who is wearing all his clothes. This is a metaphor for feeling lonely and not fitting in, as everyone else isn't wearing clothes, visually  showing that he is different.

I like the simple aspect of the video and how the idea can be very easily understood. I also enjoy the idea of the band and the performance side. At the party where we see the characters, we also see the band performing and everyone dancing to the song. This helps the video as it would be a bit boring if we just saw the character, seeing the band playing the song with high energy helps to keep the pace.

The band playing with high energy, jumping around and sweating is also apart of the video  which I really enjoy and want to put in my music video, as it shows the artist is passionate.

The video also has lots of fast cuts that keeps with the energic vibe and also keeps the theme of the song. The cuts are also parallel to the beat of the song, so the video has a better flow.

Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere - Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine

I want to use this music video as an influence, more specially when Jimbob and Fruitbat are in a busy street at night singing to the camera. I enjoy the dark lighting, and the breaking of the 4th wall as the band are playing toward the camera.

The music video Trigger Inside by Therapy? opens with a fast time-lapse shot that shows the camera 'running' around various streets. This links with the sound and theme of the music.

This effect is also used in various films and tv shows and gives off spiritic and energetic themes.
